Liverpool will end 30 years of hurt on Wednesday evening when they finally get there hands on The Premier League Trophy following the match against Chelsea. Of course it is not ideal for anyone not having supporters present for this historic moment but it promises to be an emotional night at Anfield. Should Liverpool beat Chelsea on Wednesday evening they could equal a Premier League record of 18 Home Wins in a season, currently held by Chelsea (05/06) Man Utd (2010/11)and Man City (2011/12) & (2018/19).
Liverpool have stuttered since the restart but they had that much of a lead it was always a possibility, no doubt Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed his side have failed to create any new Premier League records missing out on securing the most points and most home wins in a season. That should not detract from what has been a successful season for the club. Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson are definitely out for the visit of Chelsea and James Milner could also miss out although he is close to a return following a hip complaint. Adam Lallana will be in his final matchday squad at Anfield but is unlikely to feature unless Klopp feels sentimental.
Only Burnley have taken points away from Anfield this season and that was when the title was already secured. The Reds have a good recent record against Chelsea losing just one of the last 10 Premier League meetings between the sides and with such a formidable record at Anfield the 10/1 (888Sport New Customers) is the obvious pick for this match. Mo Salah still has an outside chance of the Golden Boot and he will be keen to score past his former club at Anfield having done so last season in a 2-0 win he looks good value to score anytime at 6/5 with Betfred.
Chelsea were very impressive in beating Man Utd in the FA Cup Semi Final over the weekend and they can make it a really good week if they can claim a place in the Champions League next season over the next few days. With Leicester and Man Utd facing off on the final day Frank Lampard knows his side will need just one win from fixtures away at Liverpool and at home to Wolves. The Blues have already shown there intent for next season with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyach and the promise of more to come and the future is looking bright again at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard has a very young squad at his disposal this season so spells of inconsistency were always likely and that has happened in the last month, they have beaten Man City and Man Utd but also suffered surprising losses at West Ham and Sheffield Utd. Olivier Giroud appears to have the lone striker role sewn up for the rest of the season having scored again at Wembley so Tammy Abraham is likely to once again start on the bench. N’Golo Kante missed the semi final and is only likely to be a sub if he is fit. Billy Gilmour will miss the rest of the season after having surgery last month.
Chelsea have been very good this season away from home winning 9 of the 18 games to date, only Liverpool Man City and Southampton have picked up more points on the road. The Blues will be encouraged by the last meeting with Liverpool which resulted in a 2-0 win in the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge. Motivation will not be an issue and they will be hoping to catch Liverpool with other things on there minds so the 20/1 (888Sport New Customers) will interest many. Olivier Giroud looked to be on his way out of Chelsea in January but he has managed to wait his chance and taken it with both hands. He has 4 goals in his last 5 starts and 12/5 looks to big with Betfred
